This Protocol is in harmony with the construction sectors strategy for 2020 as well as for the Communication "Opportunities for efficiency gaining in the use of resources in the construction sector”.

This protocol is part of the most recent and ambitious circular economy package presented by the Commission, which includes reviewed legislative proposals in waste, meant to:
promote the transition of Europe to a circular economy, raise global competitiveness , promote the sustainable economic growth and create employment.
