European Commission adopts strategy for plastics
On 16 January the European Commission
Adopted a strategy for the integrated Plastics in the process of transition to a circular economy.
This strategy aims to protect the environment from plastic pollution, promoting the growth and innovation. Until 2030 all plastic containers on the EU market are recyclable, the consumption of disposable plastic objects will be reduced and the intentional use of microplastics were to be restricted.
Through the implementation of the new strategy, the European Union intends to:
• make recycling profitable for business:
• reduce plastic waste
• prohibit the deposition of waste at sea
• Promote investment and innovation
